Characters

Marion: A scatterbrained girl who nonetheless manages to be a bundle of boundless energy. Having been bedridden since forever due to an autoimmune disease she was finally able to venture outside due to being blessed with a controllable doppelganger equipped with superhuman strength. Though Marion tries her best to connect with others she struggles in doing so due to her extremely sheltered upbringing and her strange insistence on hiding her private life.


Benji: A sarcastic jewish boy who has the power to read people’s feelings through water. His big brother Mishael recently committed suicide and naturally despite his best attempts to mask it he is a complete mess. This tragedy gave Benji a great fear of death and conflicted feelings about his own identity.


Rosa: An up and coming pop idol who is able to project her feelings unto other people with her voice. Rose went under a radical change from a gloomy mess who shuts herself in her room for hours on end to an overnight sensation that encourages her fans with empowering lyrics. Outside of her public appearances one can’t help but sense there still seems to be a darkness buried deep inside of her which shows its ugly head when an old friend tries to reconnect.


Twowen: A volatile orphan boy living in the streets who possesses the power to [REDACTED]. Former member of a domestic terrorist group that he joined as he needed a place to stay. He is currently on the run from a high ranking member who he seduced as a means to escape. Even if Twowen doesn’t refrain from proudly displaying his emotions it’s extremely difficult to tell what he is actually thinking.


Quinn: Having been disappointed by the people she needed to rely on, Quinn grew up to be extremely self-reliant, analytical and adopted an ideology of survival of the fittest. Blessed with the power to bend light to her will she took it as a sign from high-above declaring herself the second coming of the messiah and founded her own religion Quinnstianity. She made it her life’s mission to help people reach their full potential and does so with whatever means she deems necessary.


Cedrick: In his pubescence Cedrick was a social outcast weakling and only through Quinn’s intervention in which she took control of his life he became a confident presentable young man. He takes his role as Quinn’s boyfriend and the co-founder of their religion quite seriously and uses his power of insight with which he can read a person’s innermost desire and detect other blessed ones to spread the gospel in order to help others.


Tess: Tess harbors a huge love for the sea and used to be in a tight friend group with Rosa, Quinn and Cedrick at school. When she was 13 after one too many fights with her control freak parents she ran away from home and joined Samson, a boasting sea man, first as a stowaway and then as the cameraman for his documentary on a long ocean voyage.


Tashagi: Tashagi’s an eccentric, smart yet naive man who has an obsessive need for stimulation and control. Kicked out of med school due to misbehaving and then his talents being picked up by the Institute he became friends with Dian Pilson and worked with the team on studying the Mist. Just before the expedition, Tashagi was close to mortally wounded in an act of betrayal. While in the other world he murdered a well-disposed god, harnessing its blessing and used his newly gained powers to kill off the entire research team. With being the instigator in the war between gods, no way back and his injuries crippling him he is currently experimenting on saving himself.


Dian: A kind and thoughtful anthropologist specializing in mythology and religion. Dian struggles with social interactions yet she found a haven in the Institution working with others towards understanding the Mist. She sticks true to her principles and when she took notice of her coworkers’ harmful intentions she went absent without leave only returning a day before the expedition to confront her close friend Tashagi, shooting him when he refused to realize the harm he would be doing. Currently she juggles her constant fear of being persecuted due to her actions and knowledge of the Institution and the growing rift between her and her daughter Rosa.
